A Roberts' Christmas

We wrapped up Christmas with the Roberts' this past week. We had a great time celebrating with the Kniefel side and the Roberts' side. We ate way too much food. Its the one time a year I get Aunt Connie's wrapped pickles, peanut butter fudge, Swedish meatballs, homemade candy cane ice cream and the best sugar cookies in the world.

We spent the first part of Christmas Day at Grandma and Grandpa Kniefel's. We opened some great gifts! The baby got a big stuffed puppy from Great Grandma and pa (it truly is the softest thing you've ever felt!) Chad and I played a mean game of Farkel with cousins Sam & Ash (really they played and I just kept rolling dice hoping for points.) caught up with Jess (another cousin) and begged her to call us and come over for a visit inbetween college hockey and softball games (as if she really has any time, or desire, to hang out with us!) Nice to see cousins Dan & Dean and meet Dean's girlfriend. It was just a really fun day catching up with all the Kneifel's and of course missing Mark and Cathy.

On the Roberts side, we celebrate at Grandma and Grandpa's in Medford. We were able to spend time with Chad's sister Steph & and her beau Chad (yes it can be a little confusing) in from Kansas City. There is a long, long running tradition of decorating Christmas cookies before eating dinner. Grandma Joyce gets the table ready with white frosting, sprinkles, and cookies and we go to town decorating well over 4 dozen. If they break, we eat them (I really like this rule.) We had a huge feast, opened loads of gifts (so much for not going overboard this year.) Baby scored big, grandparents-to-be gave us an umbrella stroller, piggy bank, and all sorts of little goodies and toys. I am thinking we may never have to buy this kid toys...ever. But the main even for most, after opening gifts, we delighted in homemade candy cane ice cream, cookies, and more cookies.

It was another great holiday, as always, and leaves us wishing that we had more time to spend with everyone!
